Guinea - Dakar Rally 2006 Stage 12

January 12th, 2006 (MET) - by: Helge Siems - Comments

Flow passage 2006 Dakar Rally Today, the participants Mali behind and drive the first time since 1996 to Guinea. Today is the first first part of a marathon stage. This means that tonight is only allowed by the service team. For Volkswagen it is aggravating that the two ride in the scoring race trucks are down. The drivers have to team tonight in doubt screw themselves but watch out in particular that they take nothing broken.

River crossing on the Dakar Rally When driving change today on the 368 km long special stage trial tricky passages with fast laterite tracks from. There are also a few river crossings, which are mainly the motorcyclists bring wet feet. At least that is my translation of dakar.com : "Mali is left in liaison. The course of this first Guinean takes special drivers and riders into highly varied configurations. Trial zones replace almost laterite tracks, and bikers will have to get their feet wet when passing through fords. From a vegetation point of view, you will not quite need a machete knife! At the finish, as is required for a marathon stage, there will be no assistance vehicles. "

Update: The evaluation of the 11th Stage is now updated.

Update: Dakar 2006 - 12 PV Stage 1

PV1 to have Mark and Dirk 4th Place after Surret, Alphand and Dirks friend Alfie Cox and before Bruno and Michél. Giniel and Tina while driving away in front, but at PV1 not among the top 5

Update: However, the order is as often as zugeniessen with caution, because dakar.com reports:
"11:33 - car
De Villiers leads special
Yesterday's stage winner Giniel de Villiers (Volkswagen) who took off first this morning is still ahead alone. The South African has reached the 110km mark. "

Let's wait CP1 at km 412th

Update: And once again it looks different to PV1 ...
new prior to PV1

Update: Thus, the preliminary and in my opinion, very close to see TOP 5 off at CP1:
1302 ALPHAND (FRA) 11:37:47 03:00:47
2301 Saby (FRA) 11:37:04 03:02:04
3309 MILLER (USA) 11:51:56 03:02:56
4305 DE VILLIERS (AFS) 11:36:07 03:03:07
5300 HANSE PETER L (FRA) 11:56:06 03:04:06

Update: The state, according to CP2 dakar.com :
1302 ALPHAND (FRA) 12:25:21 03:48:21
2322 Chicherit (FRA) 12:32:06 03:51:06
3305 DE VILLIERS (AFS) 12:24:39 03:51:39
4301 Saby (FRA) 12:28:50 03:53:50
5309 MILLER (USA) 12:44:09 03:55:09

Update:
This is the state total so far. Peterhansel still seems a bigger problem just after CP2 stand. It remains for Mark and Dirk exciting until the end.

1302 ALPHAND (FRA)
PICARD (FRA) MITSUBISHI 46:25:52 00:00:00
2305 DE VILLIERS (AFS)
THORN (SUE) VOLKSWAGEN 46:46:23 00:20:31
3304 ROMA (ESP)
MAGNE (FRA) MITSUBISHI 47:46:38 01:20:46
4309 MILLER (USA)
Von Zitzewitz (ALL) VOLKSWAGEN 49:25:45 02:59:53

Update: Peterhansel ferry back, but lost three hours on the leading Alphand. He should then also lie behind Mark and Dirk, who have a deficit of 2:59 minutes.

Update: Schade, Peter Hansel a few minutes before Mark and Dirk:
4300 HANSE PETER L (FRA)
Cottret (FRA) MITSUBISHI 49:16:57 02:51:05
5309 MILLER (USA)
Von Zitzewitz (ALL) VOLKSWAGEN 49:25:45 02:59:53

Tomorrow it goes on. I will probably not reach Dirk today at the bivouac.

12th Section Raly Dakar 2006 Update: # 309 - Mark Miller (USA), 5 Place leg / 5 Place overall: "After only 45 miles we were running on a pro-truck, which was then put before us at one of the 20 water crossings in a mud hole. We had to push out him because he was blocking the route. Today we also had to change two tires. A very difficult and arrhythmic day. "

Saby Why should not really go behind Dirk, and cover it? Could be the second best VW. Well may be the mechanical skills of Saby Sainz and not at all good enough to act as a water carrier?

Peterhansel again seems to drive. Perhaps only with Voderantrieb. I can not understand everything:
    "14:50 - auto
    Stéphane Peterhansel repart
Le double tenant du titre est reparti sur le parcours de la spéciale d'ores et déjà mais à ERDU la tête du classement général. Giniel De Villiers devrait également passer devant lui ... "

  • 13 Helge Siems / / January 12, 2006 at 4:05 pm

Ok, here all in English: "As it stands, 'Peter' loses the overall lead to team mate Luc Alphand and would be third overall behind Giniel de Villiers." He's probably (still) not lost enough time behind Roma or to slide Mark and Dirk. But today's marathon stage and no major workshop on goal. This could improve their chances for tomorrow.

    Peterhansel is back

  • 16 Thomas / / January 12, 2006 at 4:29 pm

Too bad for Peter, but he was perhaps happen overdue for some bad luck to. Like Justin said, it could get much worse for him tomorrow if they are not able to properly service the cars tonight. Lucky for Alphand.

De Villiers must have really stepped on the gas pedal after CP1 ... good work. Good stage for Mark and Dirk, too. The tactics of Saby, I can not figure out. Seems to be doing his own thing.

Amazing performances by Chicherit Vigouroux and even today, too.

  • 17 Helge Siems / / January 12, 2006 at 4:50 pm

Eursport.de writes: "Today there is also no possibility to call the service truck. Peterhansel must therefore hope for a teammate. However, the "last" Mitsubishi's Nani Roma with already past him. "

Mitsubishi has no service trucks in the standings?

  • 18 Katrin Lehmitz / / January 12, 2006 at 5:17 pm

Since I'm curious if Peterhansel slip in the standings behind Mark and Dirk! The power they will not be able to do so much good time, but when the (still) in front of them placed so gradually eliminated ...!?

But: The rally only ends in Dakar, right?

    Regards, Katrin

    "17:02 - car
    Peter driving again
After receiving help from his race assistance truck and repairing his rear wheel problems, Stephane Peterhansel (MIT) is back on track and heading to the finish line of the special. So far he has lost over three hours on the day's winner Luc Alphand. "

He should be behind Mark and Dirk. Very beautiful, it is more exciting.

  • 20 Thomas / / January 12, 2006 at 6:37 pm

Peterhansel gets 4th place by only 8 minutes! Argh!

Thought, she would now fourth I have forgotten my calculation but with the advantage of Peterhansel, Alphand on!

    VOLTAGE!!

  • 22 Jutta / / January 12, 2006 at 7:24 pm

As you can see once again the rally is really decided until Sunday! And it's still tight!
Again, great performance by Mark and Dirk! :-)

  • 23 Klaus / / January 12, 2006 at 8:01 pm

Correct! Exciting it is now safe.
    My prediction:
Peterhansel is not sure 100% and can repair anything Tomorrow "held back" proceeding. This marks / Dirk have a good overtaking opportunity.
Roma, on its own force does not come at number 1 or 2 and will therefore proceed cautiously, for his third to keep the place.
De Villiers will certainly put pressure on Alphand, but has the disadvantage that tomorrow he must start behind him and therefore leaves in its dust. A real chance he has but if Alphand gets lost, or lies there by a puncture. (Although he uses this only when he himself nothing happens.
So my tip for the finish:
    Alphand, De Villiers, Roma, Miller
(But let me also liked to surprise positively)

  • 24 Thomas / / January 12, 2006 at 11:45 pm

One mistake by Alphand tomorrow could win the Dakar De Villiers, and put Mark and Dirk on the podium. Nissen and De Villiers have to think hard tonight about how to put big pressure on him to test Alphand and force his hand, after they get around Checherit / BMW. VW can do it. They can win it. Tomorrow is the day they have to go out and just take it.

Saby should drop behind Miller after the start to hold off Nani Roma. Miller should be able to gain the 8 mins over Peterhansel without pushing too hard, Peter is starting waaaaay back in the cars, 60th or worse. Passing will be so tough for him tomorrow, he could easily loose 15 to 30 mins just because of that. It should be such a great stage tomorrow, if we are lucky it could be the best stage of the entire race.
