In the Tunisia Rally 2006 Volkswagen Motorsport starts with two teams in the Race Touareg 2

The round of the FIA Cross Country Rally World Cup from 09 to 17 April 2006 is the second Use of this year after the Volkswagen Motorsport Dakar Rally in January. As teams will be Carlos Sainz + Michel Périn Giniel de Villiers and Dirk von Zitzewitz + start to go.

"The Rally of Tunisia fits very well into our preparation program for the 2007 Dakar Rally, as it does for long stretches of sand. Especially on this classic desert terrain with dunes and camel grass, we want to continue to improve, "said Volkswagen Motorsport Director Kris Nissen.

Update: Tunisia leads the rally timed for eight daily stages with a total of 2042 competition miles. Classic start on 9 April, a four km long prologue in the hinterland of the French port city of Nice. "This is an atmospheric start. In Tunisia Volkswagen meets strong competition: the Mitsubishi factory team comes with the three "Dakar" winners Luc Alphand, Stéphane Peterhansel and Hiroshi Masuoka to the 2,000-kilometer desert rally. 2005 Volkswagen covered with Bruno Saby and Jutta Kleinschmidt in North Africa, the second and four.

Dirk von Zitzewitz, the Tunisia Rally was the last time in 1999 driving a motorcycle. Giniel de Villiers in the last year started with the car but unfortunately nothing came to the finish.
