Today one day before the much earned Sunday off the special stage is 508km in length. “Today, there won’t be too much navigation, less dune crossings but spectacular sceneries.” Its a easy to navigate stage, no dunes and a variety of landscapes. It will be high speed stage.

There was talks about canceling today’s stage because of the poor finishing rate of stage 7 but ultimately that’s not the case. Stage 8 will be races but the start time got delayed. The fist car will leave the line at 10:45 European Time.
Mark and Dirk despite the crash are still positioned well in the overall points.
9th in the overall ranking
9 309 MILLER (USA) VON ZITZEWITZ (ALL) VOLKSWAGEN 24:48:06 02:15:25
Robby Gordon and Darren Skilton did not finish yesterday and are currently positioned 60th. There are more good news on the teams progress on Robbys Weblog.

What happened to the “Wild Hog Racing” Harley Davidson side-car combination? Did they make the crossing across the mediteranean?

Today’s stage seems to become interesting, too. Great respect for Cyril Despres who has clocked fastest time at CP1 despite his shoulder hurting like hell!!!!
Jutta has dropped back a bit from the two Mitsubishis, I sincerely hope she hasn’t hit trouble!! Sainz seems to have a bigger problem than ‘just’ a puncture.
Mark and Dirk are - according to IRI - making real good progress, YAY, keep it up!

Ooops, wasn’t CP1, but CP2 with Despres

Dirk and Mark seem to be going well today, 4th so far at CP1. Maybe not so well for Jutta though. Mitsu certainly has the big advantage in the dunes again this year.
Schlesser buggies are fast again today too.
C’ mon guys, drop the hammer…..I’m rooting for ANYONE but Mitsu now!

Kleinschmidt stopped 21 kms before CP1. Uh-oh. Disaster again today for VW. Go Mark, go. Hang in there……..Get Mitsu!

Mitsus got stuck in the sand according to Dakar.com, Mark/Dirk are catching them?! Yes, I think so! Gooooooooooo!

In responce to wessels. Team Hogwild dropped out after stage 3 due to a sproket failure.
